His Excellency the Governor has the honour to present for the consideration of the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council the items (Nos. 115 and 116 of 1934) of supplementary expenditure set out below.

The Performing Right Society, Limited, demands payment in respect of broadcasting by the Hong Kong Studio of copyright musical works in the repertoire of the Society and of foreign societies affiliated thereto. The sum of $1,300 has been agreed in settlement of the Society's claims in respect of broadcasting by the Studio of such musical works to the end of the year, 1934.
A supplementary vote for $1,300 is accordingly requested.
The above is to be met from savings under the same head (1934 Estimates page 89 sub-head 30).

* 115.-Head 27,-Defence "A Volunteer Defence Corps :-Equip- ment and Field Training expenses for Volunteer Aid Detachment (Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps)
In connection with the newly formed Nursing Detachment, a sum of $500 is required to meet the initial outlay on equipment and a further $400 annually on field and hospital training and maintenance.
A supplementary vote of $900 is requested.
The above is to be met from savings under Sub-heads 27, 28 and 29 (1934 Estimates page 86).
